BBC NEWS | Wales | Taxpayers' money for steel plants

BBC NEWS Wales Taxpayers' money for steel plants: "Steelmaker Corus is being given £1.1m Welsh Assembly Government funding in a scheme designed to head off redundancies.
The money is to train workers at plants in Port Talbot and Llanwern.
It is the single biggest payout yet from a fund to help companies retain staff in the recession, rather than making them redundant.
The money comes from the ProAct scheme, which is designed to help companies in Wales cope in the economic downturn.
The funding, a £2,000 training subsidy and £2,000 wage subsidy per worker, is aimed at helping firms keep their staff rather than making them redundant
So far, the scheme has spent £17.3m on helping 129 companies."

Some small businesses could do with some assistance but yet again it is the big boys who receive the cash which evenually pours down the drains at the pub.
